Scouts - Xylonite sailing weekend
8th Wimbledon Scouts Easter weekend trip sailing on board the sailing barge Xylonite, out of Maldon in Essex.
Xylonite is a 93-foot, 68 ton sailing barge originally built in 1926, and operated by the Cirdan Trust for youth sail training.
As well as sailing the ship (including steering, working the sails, climbing the mast, going out on the bowsprit, and rowing the dinghy), the Scouts lived on board the boat for the whole weekend, doing all the cooking and domestic duties.
